Diwali Pooja

Diwali Pooja is the central spiritual ritual performed during the Festival of Lights, Diwali. This celebration marks the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after his exile and victory over Ravana, but it is most popularly associated with the worship of Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and prosperity and Lord Ganesha for auspicious beginnings. Homes are cleaned, decorated with rangoli and lamps, and illuminated to welcome divine blessings.

The Lakshmi-Ganesh Pooja is performed on the evening of Diwali, where devotees place idols or pictures of the deities on a decorated altar. Offerings of sweets, fruits, coins, gold/silver items, flowers, and incense are made. Sacred mantras such as the Lakshmi Ashtottara and Ganapati Atharvasheersha are recited. Families pray for financial well-being, success in business, and household harmony.

This pooja signifies the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. Spiritually, it is believed to usher in fresh energy, good fortune, and divine protection for the coming year. Diwali Pooja is not just a ritual; it’s a cultural and spiritual affirmation of prosperity through inner clarity and devotion.
