Ganesh Chaturthi Pooja
Ganesh Chaturthi is the grand celebration of the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom and beginnings. The festival spans 1.5 to 11 days, during which families bring home clay idols of Ganesha, perform daily poojas, offer modaks, and immerse the idols on the final day. The energy of devotion, music, and community fills homes and neighborhoods.
The daily rituals involve chanting Ganesha Ashtottaram, performing aarti, and offering naivedya (usually sweets and fruits). The idol is decorated with flowers, durva grass, and sandal paste. Devotees believe that Ganesha visits during this period to remove obstacles and bless their homes with peace and prosperity.
Ganesh Chaturthi fosters devotion, unity, and celebration. It is a reminder to welcome divine energy into our lives and then let go with detachment (as symbolized by visarjan). Spiritually, it encourages fresh beginnings, mental clarity, and deep reverence for the cycles of creation and dissolution.
