Pradosh Vrat Pooja
Pradosh Vrat is observed twice a month on the 13th day (Trayodashi) of the lunar fortnight and is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is considered an extremely auspicious day to seek divine mercy, spiritual growth, and liberation from sins. The vrat (fast) is observed from sunrise to the evening, and the pooja is performed during the Pradosh Kaal (dusk period).
Devotees perform abhishekam to the Shiva Linga using water, milk, honey, and curd. Mantras such as “Om Namah Shivaya” and hymns like the Shiva Ashtakam or Shiva Tandava Stotram are recited. Offerings of bilva leaves, incense, fruits, and lamps are made, and devotees pray for forgiveness and blessings.
Pradosh Vrat instills humility, devotion, and a sense of detachment. The combination of fasting, worship, and introspection leads to inner cleansing and spiritual renewal. It is believed that those who observe this vrat with sincerity receive divine grace and liberation from karmic debts.
