Vivah Sanskar

Vivah Sanskar is the most elaborate of the 16 samskaras and marks the sacred union of two souls in matrimony. It is not just a social contract but a divine bond between two families, witnessed by fire (Agni) and divine forces. Marriage is considered a dharmic responsibility, aimed at upholding household life (grihastha ashram).

The key rituals include Kanyadaan (giving away of the bride), Mangal Phera (circling the fire seven times), Saptapadi (seven vows), and Sindoor-Daan (application of vermillion). Each step involves mantras, symbolic gestures, and blessings for a life of harmony, mutual respect, and spiritual growth.

Vivah Sanskar aligns individuals with the cosmic order of dharma and procreation. It sanctifies love, commitment, and the pursuit of shared goals. The couple promises to walk together through joys and challenges, upholding family values, traditions, and spiritual purpose.
